RBDS Christmas Concert
Back to Latest News
On Friday 2nd December, students and staff from the Resource Base for Deaf students watched the livestream of the annual Deaf/Deafblind Christmas service from Chelmsford Cathedral. We also had the pleasure of Mildmay Primary School Resource Base students and staff joining us as one of our transition feeder schools.
The students enjoyed watching the signed service and seeing familiar faces both on screen from other schools and old teachers and friends in person.
An ex Mildmay and Great Baddow High School student also joined us to share her fantastic achievements after leaving school, graduating from the University of Westminster with a 2:1 degree in Business Management. They are enjoying a successful career and recently got married. What an amazing deaf role model for the students to aspire to. We all then enjoyed a festive mince pie to get us in the Christmas spirit.
Usually, students attend the Cathedral in person but as there are lots of schools attending and the aftermath of covid, this has now been altered so that schools attend bi- annually to perform. It was still a fantastic opportunity to watch others performing signed carols and readings whilst being part of the deaf community.
Thank goodness for technology. Next year we will be invited to perform at the Cathedral and look forward to such an important date in the Resource Base calendar.
