Supergirl DCU: Has She Been Cast? Which Actress Could Play Her?

DC fans have been wondering whether the role of Supergirl has been cast for James Gunn’s DCU and have been speculating about actresses that could portray the character. Here is everything you need to know.

Has Supergirl been cast in the DCU?

No, Supergirl has not yet been cast in the DCU as of publishing.

However, according to a new report from Deadline, DC Studios is reportedly looking to screen test three actresses that could play the character in the DCU: Milly Alcock, Emilia Jones, and Meg Donnelly. Deadline further reported that the screen tests could begin in a month or so.

However, fans will no doubt have to wait for official confirmation from James Gunn and the people over at DC Studios for news regarding Supergirl’s casting, and the wait will possibly not be very long considering the reports and rumors are floating around claiming that the Kryptonian superheroine will make her first appearance in 2025’s Superman: Legacy.

Which actress could play Supergirl in the DCU?

While the three aforementioned actresses Milly Alcock, Emilia Jones, and Meg Donnelly are great picks for the character, there are still a few more who could tackle the role such as Elle Fanning, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Lili Reinhart.

Elle Fanning for instance has showcased a versatile acting range through projects like The Beguiled, The Great, and All The Bright Places. This makes her a solid candidate for the role of Kara Zor-El.

Chloe Grace Moretz has prior experience in the superhero genre through the Kick-Ass films and also a versatile acting ability, evidenced by her performances in Greta, Dark Places, and the 5th Wave. All of this makes her another solid pick for Kara Zor-El.

Lili Reinhart is also a brilliant choice for the role as not only does she have a great dramatic range, displayed through projects like Riverdale, Chemical Hearts, and Look Both Ways, but she has also shown excellent chemistry with Superman actor David Corenswet in Look Both Ways. It would be exciting if she is ultimately cast as it could make for an interesting dynamic between Superman and Supergirl.
