This revelation becomes a linchpin in the power play orchestrated by Nandini Devi (Aishwarya Rai). Her only aim is to destroy the Chola Kingdom.

Vandiyadevan emerges as a pivotal character, entangled in the web of political vengeance. His encounters with Pandiyan rebels and revelations of Nandini’s conspiracies add layers of suspense and urgency to the storyline.
In addition to being a messenger, Vandiyadevan plays a critical role in relaying vital information to Kundavai. He had overheard how Nandini was plotting to kill her brothers and father.
Kundavai sails to meet her recovering brother. Adithi also arrives to meet his brother. The siblings are together after a long time. Soon after, Vandiyadevan reveals how Nandini is plotting to kill Adithi when he visits her kingdom. Everyone advises against it, but Adithi is adamant about meeting his forgotten love.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 ending: Does Adithi die?
Adithi arrives at Nandini’s kingdom with his army despite knowing her vengeful plan. However, she asks him to come alone inside the palace. Soon after a series of mockings and calling out the obvious reason for his presence, he declares he will step away from the throne. He would do that only on the condition that any land he conquers from there on, he will not give it back.
Meanwhile, the news of Arunmozhi being alive spreads like wildfire. Adding the risk of being attacked on his way back to Thanjavur. He manages to avert the attempts and reaches Thanjavur. However, the place is being attacked by Pandiyan rebels.

In an unexpected turn of events, he exclaims that if he would die, then he wanted that to happen in her arms. She is taken aback. However, they both know he would not make it out alive out of the palace so he lets himself be killed by Nandini. But she soon drowns herself.
