Release Date Set for Guy Ritchie’s New Action Movie Starring Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson

Guy Ritchie’s next movie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, will hit in United States theaters this April.

Lionsgate has announced that Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is releasing on April 19, 2024. The upcoming movie stars Henry Cavill, Eiza González, and Alan Ritchson, among others.

What is The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare about?

“Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming,” the official synopsis reads. “The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.”

Along with Cavill, González, and Ritchson, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare stars Alex Pettyfer, Henry Golding, Cary Elwes, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Babs Olusamokun, Henrique Zaga, and Til Schweiger.

The film is based on a 2014 novel, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops, written by Damien Lewis. Ritchie wrote the screenplay for the movie with Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, and Arash Amel.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is produced by Ritchie, Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, Ivan Atkinson, and John Friedberg. The film does not yet have an official rating.

Ritchie is known for making 1998’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, 2000’s Snatch, 2009’s Sherlock Holmes, 2011’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, 2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E., 2019’s Aladdin, 2019’s The Gentlemen and 2021’s Wrath of Man. Two of Ritchie’s latest movies were both released in 2023, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and The Covenant.
