Taylor Swift Debut (Taylor’s Version): Is Her First Album Being Re-Released?

Taylor Swift has been working to re-record and re-release the first six albums she made. With Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989 all being re-released, her debut album is one of the two remaining. Can we expect to see a Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) release date soon? Here’s what you need to know.

Will there be a Taylor Swift Debut (Taylor’s Version) album?

Yes, there will be a Taylor Swift Debut (Taylor’s Version) album.

Taylor Swift confirmed that she plans to re-record and re-release her initial albums as a way for her to own her music. Therefore, fans can expect to hear her debut album re-recorded sooner rather than later.

While no official release date is yet confirmed, it’s expected that both Debut and Reputation will be released during 2024.

“Taylor’s Versions” of Fearless and Red released in 2021, while Speak Now and 1989 released in 2023. The year break was likely due to the new album, Midnights, being recorded. Unless Swift is currently recording a new album for 2024, Debut and Reputation should be releasing relatively soon.

Why is Taylor Swift re-recording her albums?

Taylor Swift is re-recording her albums to take full ownership of the music.

Swift’s “Taylor’s Version” re-releases allow her to get out from under the original version’s owner, Scooter Braun. As explained in a lengthy blog post, Swift was not happy with Braun having ownership of the masters of her original work. In a bid to escape Braun’s ownership, Swift has produced “Taylor’s Version” albums which are intended to overwrite the previous versions and limit Braun’s profits.

Time will tell whether Debut or Reputation is the first to get the Taylor’s Version treatment.
