Roman Reigns Breaks Silence on The Rock’s Match Tease

Roman Reigns, the undisputed WWE Universal Champion, has finally broken his silence regarding The Rock’s recent tease of a potential showdown.

WWE had initially teased the return of a former WWE champion leading up to the event, with Jinder Mahal initially appearing as a likely candidate. However, The Rock’s surprise return turned the tables as he laid out Mahal with his signature Spinebuster and People’s Elbow.

The Rock made a dramatic return during the Day 1 edition of Monday Night Raw, targeting not only Jinder Mahal but also teasing a match with the current WWE Champion, Roman Reigns.

During his promo, The Rock questioned the fans about their interest in seeing him as the new Head of the Table, directly challenging Roman Reigns’ coveted spot as the Head of the Table for the Bloodline faction.

In response, Reigns took to Twitter with a brief and dismissive reaction, expressed through laughing emojis. Check out his tweet below:

This unexpected challenge has not only caught the attention of Reigns but has also stirred reactions from WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, who shared his thoughts on the matter.

Potential plans for Roman Reigns and The Rock match

With The Rock challenging Roman Reigns for a match, the much-anticipated dream bout seems imminent, contrary to initial WrestleMania rumors. Originally speculated for WrestleMania 39 and confirmed by The Rock on the Pat McAfee Show months ago, the match didn’t materialize. Reigns instead faced Royal Rumble 2023 winner Cody Rhodes, defeating him with Solo Sikoa’s assistance.

The new development surfacing is that the dream match may unfold in Australia next month during WWE’s Elimination Chamber at Optus Stadium in Perth, boasting a capacity comparable to WrestleMania.

It also indicates that The Great One won’t be challenging him for the WWE title; instead, he will be vying for the coveted spot of the Head of the Table.

Looking ahead to WrestleMania 40, Reigns is rumoured to defend his WWE title against Cody Rhodes. The outcome remains uncertain, particularly with Reigns closing in on Hulk Hogan’s record of holding the title for 1474 days. He is poised to break this record if he retains the title until September 2024.
