Paramount Plus‘s new TV and movie releases for December 18-24 include Guy Nattiv and Helen Mirren’s Golda and Joaquin Phoenix and Ari Aster’s Beau is Afraid.
Starting on December 20, viewers can start streaming Golda, a biographical drama film directed by Guy Nattiv and based on the life of the 4th Israeli Prime Minister, Golda Meir, played by industry veteran Helen Mirren, and her time holding prime minister power during multiple life events affecting Israel, such as the Yom Kippur War. Other cast members include Liev Schreiber, Camille Cottin, Rami Heuberger, Emma Davies, Lior Ashkenazi, Dominic Mafham, Dvir Benedek, Ed Stoppard, Ohad Knoller, and Jaime Ray Newman.
Then on December 21, viewers can start streaming Beau Is Afraid, a surrealist comedy film directed by Ari Aster and starring Joaquin Phoenix as the title character alongside a supporting cast that includes Patti LuPone, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Parker Posey, Kylie Rogers, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Zoe-Lister Jones, Richard Kind, and Michael Gandolfini. The story follows a mild-mannered and paranoia-ridden man Beau, who embarks on a surreal odyssey to return home to attend his mother’s funeral while experiencing several situations that make him realize his worst fears along the way.
Other releases during this week on Paramount Plus include The 25th Annual A Home for the Holidays, an inspirational program aimed at telling uplifting stories of adoption from foster care and also featuring performances from top artists from the Bram Goldsmith Theater at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles, and Frosty Returns, a 1993 Christmas special that features John Goodman as the voice of Frosty the Snowman.
