I’ve traditionally gamed on full keyboards, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Razer BlackWidow V4 75%. However, after spending time with it, I can confirm it is able to deliver everything you’d want in a high-quality mechanical gaming keyboard in a smaller form factor. I wound up incredibly impressed, and it’s now my go-to keyboard for both work and gaming.
What’s really impressive — and also takes a bit to get used to — is the form factor of the 75% keyboard. It’s much smaller than a full keyboard, thus the name, but it still has all of the functionality that you’d want. The function row, arrow keys, plus the delete, page up/down, and insert keys are all there, so you’re not missing out or limited in any way. There’s also a multi-function roller, which I use for audio control, and two media buttons as well. While it did take a day or two to fully get used to the condensed typing layout, I quickly adapted and found myself gaming without any issue while also having the benefit of extra desk space
Of course, if you’re looking for a mechanical keyboard, then how the keystrokes actually sound is important. The BlackWidow V4 75% comes with Gen-3 Razer Orange Tactile Mechanical Switches by default, and there are also Yellow and Green variants if you’d like a different sound. There are some incredible-sounding audio clips on Razer’s website, and the Orange is what I prefer as it’s a very satisfying tactile sound while not being as clicky as its Green counterpart.
The keyboard is highly customizable, and the included two-in-one switch and keycap puller make it a breeze to remove components. The keyboard is compatible with both three or five-pin switches, so you’re able to install new switches to your desire and modify them rather easily. Another nice thing to note is that there are already two layers of sound-dampening foam installed and the underside of the printed circuit board has already been tape-enhanced in order to absorb high-frequency sounds, so those customizations won’t need to be made.
The BlackWidow V4 75% also comes with a magnetic plush leatherette wrist rest, which has come in clutch over time. It connects magnetically to the bottom of the keyboard and allows your wrists to stay comfortable over time. Whether it was typing for my day job or playing PC games afterward, I never had any comfort issues despite being at my desk for extended periods of time thanks to this cushioned wrist rest. It’s a great add-on and worth making space for.
It’s also worth noting that the keyboard is compatible with Razer Synapse 3 on Windows, which allows for the keyboard to be fully programmable. That’s particularly nice if you’re already invested in the Razer ecosystem since you’re able to sync up Chroma RGB and make changes for other devices all in the same app. Of course, this keyboard also works without issue with Mac, which I was able to test as well.

I came away incredibly impressed by the Razer BlackWidow V4 75% keyboard. It’s the ideal mix of function, size, and comfort, as it clears up valuable desk space while also allowing me to game and perform my work without missing a beat. Not to mention it sounds wonderful and is a joy to hear all day as I type away. If you’re looking for a great gaming mechanical keyboard and one at a smaller form factor, then this is a no-brainer recommendation.
